Celebrities & Politics: A Moronic Combination
Over and over again we are confronted with unwanted political views from celebrities. And most of the time they are completely inept in presenting their ideas in a polite or even rational manner. This bothers me because A) their only job is to entertain and B) they are no more if not less qualified than me to expound on the issues and solutions that face our great nation. Just because someone sticks and mic or camera in your face does not mean you have to spew your stupidity for the rest of us to invariably hear.
The celeb nation seems to be targeting Sarah Palin with most of their vile these days as her beliefs are in direct conflict with theirs. Take for instance Lindsay Lohan's comments where she rails on about Palin's inexperience and inability to be Vice-President. Ok, Lindsay, my suggestion is that you keep your comments to yourself since you are having a difficult enough time keeping your life from falling apart. If we need some advice on how to successfully force someone off the road while intoxicated, we'll give you a call.
Then there is Chevy Chase encouraging another celeb, Tina Fey, to "decimate" Palin in another Saturday Night Live skit:
"I want her to decimate this woman. This woman is, I can't believe there hasn't been more about it. ... It's just unbelievable to me this woman is actually running for vice president."
The reason you can't believe it Chevy, is because you don't know what normal everyday Americans are about. Like most celebrities who probably pride themselves on their tolerance, you have no tolerance for someone who believes differently than you.
And if we need to find out how to become a has been comedian, we'll look you up, Chevy. But I don't care to hear your political views.
I believe the spite that comes from celebs stems from fear. They're afraid that someone that doesn't have all their views will take over and revoke all their rights or their platform to do whatever they want. And in the end they will no longer have ridiculous salaries because of it.
The problem with celebs and their views is that no matter what they are most of time they are heard, and they have influence. Not because they are right but just because they have an avenue to propagate their thoughts.
What is the solution to this plague of babbling uninformed? Be informed and be an informer, and don't be a jackass while doing it.
